Case Summary
Mr Alim, a litigant in person employed by Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance Limited from July 2022 to May 2023, brought claims for race and religion discrimination and harassment. Following five preliminary hearings, multiple iterations of further particulars, and procedural delays spanning over two years, the tribunal struck out all claims under Employment Tribunals Rules of Procedure 2024 Rules 38(1)(b) and 38(1)(e).
Why this outcome?
Non-compliance with ordersThe claims were struck out due to the claimant's persistent non-compliance with tribunal orders and unreasonable conduct, including failure to provide clear and coherent particulars despite multiple opportunities over two years, inflating the claim value from £126,000 to £36 million, making unfounded allegations of bad faith and professional misconduct against the respondent and its solicitors, and engaging in other abusive procedural conduct.
