Decision Text
EMPLOYMENT TRIBUNALS Claimant: Mr Euan Cripps Respondent: Ms Tamara Oates JUDGMENT 1. The claim of unlawful deduction from wages is upheld and the respondent is ordered to pay the claimant the sum of £1,675.44. 2. The award for unlawful deduction from wages falls within the definition of earnings at section 62 of the Income Tax (Earnings and Pensions) Act 2003. Accordingly, the respondent is obliged to treat it as wages and to account to HMRC for any tax and national insurance. The net amount is to be paid directly to the claimant. REASONS 1. This is a claim for unlawful deduction from wages. According to the clam form, submitted on 28 November 2025, the respondent built up a back log of outstanding pay, some of which was paid when the claimant left his job as a member of the bar staff, but a month’s pay was still outstanding, in the sum of £1675.44. 2. A response was submitted to the claim, stating that the claim was not disputed. Accordingly, judgment is given for the claimant. Employment Judge Fowell Date 19 March 2026
